MUSCULOSKELETAL MODELS

A 2025 systematic review identified 36 relevant studies in orthopedic and sports-medicine research, 35 of which were preclinical. Animal models included muscle, tendon, ligament, fracture, and other tissue-injury research.

HUMAN RESEARCH

SMALL EXPLORATORY STUDIES

Limited human studies have explored intra-articular, intravesical, intravenous, and rectal administration. Sample sizes were small, study durations were short, and safety monitoring was limited.

Current evidence does not establish an approved therapeutic indication, validated dosing regimen, long-term safety profile, or well-defined risk-benefit profile in humans.

RESEARCH LIMITATIONS

The primary limitation is translation. Positive findings in laboratory and animal models do not automatically predict outcomes in humans.

Human studies remain small and incomplete, and there is insufficient clinical safety information to characterize long-term risks, immunogenicity, route-specific risks, or a consistent human safety profile.
